Hora Chapina

So I'm working on this later and don't really remember it well, but.....we had class this morning until about 10 am(check out the pic of our class with the teacher and the pic of the dogs stuck together outside Patty's house before class).
Then we went to Antigua to exchange money, buy phones, and have lunch. Evan and I ended up buying the internet too because you got a free month of internet usage if you bought the apparatus. Not sure if we'll be able to afford it down the road, but they said it is possible to just buy a day, week, or month usage at a time. We ate lunch at some place owned by a former PC volunteer, I think the name is Dona Louisa. I had a club sandwich and fries. It was good but definitely got a little overstuffed! I also bought some banana bread for my family because we couldn't resist the temptation after smelling all the fresh baked goods.

We were late leaving Antigua and thus late for our first meeting with Don Hilo, our counterpart in the office of tourism. We all felt kinda bad but they insisted it wouldn't be a big deal because everyone here runs on "hora chapina", aka guatemalan time or very very late! He was nice when we met him and we got a better feel for his needs. He also expressed that we should all stop by tomorrow morning to meet the local artesanas in our town that will have a tent at the fair. Part of our project is to actually help them plan a market to sell their things to locals and tourists. Overall, our group is a little concerned about the location and purpose of the playground we will build from recycled materials. But nonetheless, we are going to help them and hopefully provide some more focused direction for tourism here.
