Que es esto?

So I was just reading my friend, Megan Felker's new blog at work and this kid comes up and asks what is that? (Que es esto?). I explain it is a page on the internet where my friend in the United States writes stuff. He says, "no, what is THAT?" I said, "um....a computer..." and realize that was what he was curious about. He says, "oh...". So my lesson for the day is never assume you understand what someone is saying or asking about in a foreign language/land....It is quite possible you don't really know. Hence, always be specific and make sure people understand you and that you answer their questions.

So yesterday, my counterpart and I distributed brochures in most of the hotels in Coban for HOURS. We passed out about 1,000 brochures in over a dozen hotels and hostals. I think our trip was very successful. Not only were many of the hotels VERY interested in having our brochures for distribution, but also many want to sell our coffee in their hotels. While we were in Coban, I checked at the post office to see if I had anything....AND I DID! I got a package from my work friends from SEAEDD in Pine Bluff, AR. I waited till I got home to open it, but it is so awesome. There were lot's of things to cook like noodles and spices, but also white chocolate trufles and Reese cups! Needless to say I have been over-indulging...Thanks so much to them! Also, I forgot to ever update when I got a package from my friends from Jackson, MS, Emily and Melanie. They sent some great stuff too: peanut butter m&m's, cheetos (my two favs), deoderant (sp?), baby wipes (don't ask), and some other stuff. I'm just now finishing up the deodarant that they sent. So this post is mainly to thank you all for sending me packages! It is nice to get a taste of home here in Guatemala...

And so if anyone wants to send packages in the future, here is the address to the post office in Coban:

Winfrey Norton, PCV
Cuerpo de Paz/ Peace Corps
Apartado Postal 66
Coban, Alta Verapaz 16001
Guatemala, Centro America

Hope everyone had a happy mother's day. I got to talk to both my American mom and my Guatemalan mom from my training town. Hope everyone is happy and healthy!
